you don't always have to roll out a yoga mat, and there are many practices that you can do that are portable and convenient .

Hi, I am Liz Alban, and welcome to season two of Yoga for Trauma, the Inner fire of yoga, where we explore how yoga can help release trauma, calm the mind, and reconnect you with your body.

If I invite you to have a look and see if that might suit you. And the link will be in the show notes to that page. Have you ever heard of yoga snacks? They talk about it in the exercise world as well. , Because of the neuroplasticity of the brain practicing yoga consistently and regularly. Provided it is the right practices for you is [00:01:00] often more effective than if you were to go to a couple of yoga classes a week. Even if your practice was less than 20 minutes and these classes were an hour long, it can be more effective.

And the great thing about yoga is you don't always have to roll out a yoga mat, and there are many practices that you can do that are portable and convenient  so it is possible to break up your yoga throughout the day with. Maybe a bit of breath work here and there, depending on your mood.

Bit of meditation, bit of self-inquiry, quiet, contemplative practice. It doesn't just have to be yoga shapes, yoga poses, [00:02:00] and even me, I've been known to practice a few yin yoga poses at night. Especially if I've got some cramps, muscular pain to hydrate my fascia and help me sleep so I'm not cramping as much or practice some sort of breath work like sandbag breathing or something in bed, yoga, nidra, and other sorts of breath work.

At night to help me sleep. So I tend, these days to break up my yoga practice to meet me where I am and so yoga snacks can be great to , help your practice become daily or better, still twice daily or more and consistent without having to. Change your lifestyle around it helps you be able to fit it into your day where, as opposed to , changing your schedule to meet, uh, the gym's timetable or the yoga studio's [00:03:00] timetable if you can't get to the yoga class that day or that week.

So I invite you to consider some yoga snacks in your day. As part of your lifestyle and if you're interested in a nice little yoga snack, uh, there's a great practice on my freebie page called B Breath. Yes, you'll hear me talk about it 'cause it's just one of my go-to breath works and it's got a video and instructions there as well to help you get started.

And. Some variations there. Know that you don't have to close your eyes. You don't have to do the huster mudra, the hand posture, and it can be a great way to add a yoga snack into your day. there is a trauma informed meditation relaxation,

Yoga [00:04:00] doesn't have to involve rolling out a yoga mat or. Getting yourself into some sort of bendy, pretzel like shape or any shape. It's about what you feel inside rather than what you look on the outside. ,

thanks again for tuning in. If you loved the show, my guests and I would really appreciate a five star review on Apple Podcast, Spotify, wherever you listen to podcasts. Until next time, never forget the power of yoga.
